This week’s Budget Buy is just perfect for high summer. And with the sun finally back it will go straight into business!

So what’s the USP for this one?

1.Crisp cotton. White poplin is a long-time favourite fabric.

2. Asymmetric cut. Adds some slight drama and interest to it. Also a little Japanese touch. Never wrong in my world.

3. Loose-fit. Perfect for hot summer days and all that vacay carbs. Which I’m certain we will have lots of in July & August, right?!

4. The pricetag. It was decent from the beginning, but now when on sale it’s no more than that Friday lunch with a glass of wine. Skip one and you can have this on for the next:-)

5. Sculptural. When looking at the pics I thought of a big white paper tissue wrapped around my torso! I like this sculptural draping that gives it an elegant edge.

I’m wearing the “tissue” top with a pair of old Bermuda denim shorts and flat or mid-heel sandals.

A good pairing is also over-sized slacks or leather shorts. (More about the fab shorts in yesterdays post btw!)

Asymmetric Cotton top, now £28, COS. Oversized slacks, £75, Topshop. Black mid-heel sandals, now £49 COS. Denim shorts, Earnest Sewn (old cut-off jeans). White flat sandals, Prada (old).
